KARACHI: The Karachi University (KU) postponed all examinations to be held on Monday, reversing an earlier decision to hold the examinations as per schedule.
The varsity's spokesperson Muhammad Farooq had earlier confirmed that examinations would be held as per schedule on Monday after the university had announced earlier today to postpone the examinations due to the tense security situation in the city.
The Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) also announced to suspend all interviews and educational activities tomorrow, the public relations officer of the varsity told this correspondent.
In Punjab, all educational institutes will remain closed for two days in light of the Islamabad operation and the ensuing protests countrywide, the provincial minister for education said.
According to Punjab Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, all private and state-run educational institutes in the province will remain closed on Monday and Tuesday, keeping in view the law and order situation after Islamabad operation.
Protesters belonging to a religious group continued to stage sit-ins and block roads in Lahore, Karachi and various other cities after security forces started an operation to disperse the Islamabad sit-in on Saturday.
Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University Lyari, Federal Urdu University, and Jinnah Women University will remain closed tomorrow.
