KARACHI: All schools and colleges across the province will remain closed on Monday on account of the tense security situation across Sindh.
"All government and private schools will remain closed tomorrow (Monday) on account of the security situation in the province," the Sindh Education Minister Jam Mehtab confirmed late Sunday evening.
The administration of the Karachi University (KU) earlier today announced that examinations scheduled for Monday had been postponed.
A Sindh Education Department spokesperson had earlier said that a decision had not been made on the matter and state-run schools would remain open tomorrow (Monday).
The Private Schools Association had earlier today announced its decision to suspend educational activities on Monday in the wake of the security situation.
The Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) along with Benazir Bhutto Shaheed University Lyari, Federal Urdu University, and Jinnah Women University will also remain closed tomorrow.
In Punjab, all educational institutes will remain closed for two days in light of the Islamabad operation and the ensuing protests countrywide, the provincial minister for education said.
According to Punjab Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan, all private and state-run educational institutes in the province will remain closed on Monday and Tuesday, keeping in view the law and order situation after Islamabad operation.
Protesters belonging to a religious group continued to stage sit-ins and block roads in Lahore, Karachi and various other cities after security forces started an operation to disperse the Islamabad sit-in on Saturday.
