ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Chaudhry Nisar has said that not a single person was injured outside his residence in Rawalpindi, let alone any deaths.

Nisar's statement came in reaction to what Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal said on Geo News' programme 'Jirgah' on Sunday.

Commenting on Saturday's turmoil in Islamabad, Iqbal had said the reported casualties during the Faizabad operation took place outside Nisar's residence in the vicinity, however, it is yet to be known as to who had opened the fire.

It is pertinent to mention here that demonstrators had entered Nisar's residence near Faizabad area in Rawalpindi and set fire to the gate. However, he and his family were not at their residence at the time of the incident.

Denying Iqbal's assertions, Nisar asked him to refrain from issuing baseless statements to cover up his "incompetence."

He noted Iqbal is the same person who had bragged that he would get the Faizabad Interchange vacated within three hours. "Now he is putting entire burden of operation on the courts."

Nisar said it was extremely unfortunate for a country to have an interior minister as "unaware and irresponsible" as Iqbal.

"Iqbal's post demanded him to stand by his administration pertaining to Faizabad operation, instead of making excuses," he said.
