KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday ordered an inquiry against Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Rao Anwar and other police officials after a petition was filed against them for harassing citizens.

A two-member bench of the SHC conducted hearing of the petition. The counsel of the petitioners, Shakir Awan, Sabir Awan and Malik Asad, said officials of the Malir City, Sharafi Goth and other police stations were harassing his clients.

Fake cases are being registered against my clients and officials are demanding bribe from them, the counsel told the court, adding, "Police officials are also threatening to abduct and kill them in an encounter."

The petitioner requested the court to order a departmental inquiry against SSP Anwar and other officials.

At this, the court ordered the IG Sindh to hold investigations against SSP Anwar and others named in the petition and submit a report.
