MULTAN: Police have arrested a man from the city’s Basti Malook area for drowning her 5-year-old differently-abled daughter in a canal.

A father of four, Riaz said it had become difficult for him to take care of her visually-impaired and disabled daughter after his wife passed away six months ago, police said.

The FIR quoting his statement says that the father was unable to take care of his daughter and other children by himself.

Police have registered a case, filed by the child’s paternal grandfather.

A number of cases of parents killing their children due to poverty or domestic disputes have been reported in Pakistan.

Last week, a woman murdered her three children in cold blood near Hafizabad’s Sakhekhi vicinity on Saturday over a domestic dispute.
