RAWALPINDI: Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Tuesday said that the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz will rein in those hatching conspiracies during the next general elections in 2018.
The state minister was speaking to media in Rawalpindi. Aurangzeb, in a reference to the 20-day sit-in at the Faizabad interchange in the capital, said that such protests are not conducive in any sense for Pakistan.
“Speaking more on the subject of the sit-in is also not favourable for Pakistan,” said the minister.
She further stated that Pakistan has given ample sacrifices in the war against terror.
Aurangzeb while taking aim at the rival Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, said that whenever the party’s presence was required in the parliament to discuss national issues, the PTI abstained from appearing.
The protest, which also led to an operation against the demonstrators, brought the capital to a standstill for more than twenty days.
The protests were held against the change in the Finality of Prophethood oath when the government passed the Elections Act 2017.
The change — dubbed a clerical error by the government — was immediately fixed and an amendment was passed later.
