ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said on Monday that Bench and Bar were integral parts of judicial system.
"Both should work to provide justice to litigants and the lawyers should respect the Bench" he said this while talking to a delegation of over 150 lawyers of Faisalabad Bar Association headed by its President S.M. Iqbal and Iqbal Ahmed Cheema, which called him on here.
He emphasized that lawyers were the educated section of society and they should remain united so that no one could cause any rift amongst them.
Praising the efforts of Faisalabad Bar during the days of the lawyers’ movement, he said that the Bar played effective and valuable role for rule of law, supremacy of constitution and independence of judiciary in the country.
Appreciating the role of outgoing cabinet, he said that it has done a good job for the welfare of lawyers' community in Faisalabad by constructing chambers on their own expenses.
He expected the same commitment, devotion and steadfastness from the newly elected cabinet.
The members of the Bar informed the Chief Justice about their one point agenda regarding the establishment of the High Court Bench at Faisalabad.
The members of delegation admired the struggle of the Chief Justice for the cause of supremacy of the Constitution and the rule of Law in the country and assured full support and cooperation to standby the judiciary.
He distributed the shields amongst the member, office bearers, ex-presidents and others who played role for the betterment of the Bar.
The president of the Bar also presented a shield to the Chief Justice of Pakistan on behalf of the Bar.
