ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Peoples' Party co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari will attend the all-parties conference of Dr Tahir ul Qadri-led Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), the party decided in its central executive committee meeting on December 26.

Zardari is expected to meet the PAT leader at his Model Town residence in Lahore on December 29 (Friday), sources within the PPP informed Geo News.

Opposition leader Khursheed Shah, Qamar Zaman Kaira and Rehman Malik will accompany Zardari during the meeting, it was decided.

In the CEC meeting chaired by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari at Naudero House and attended by the former president, it was also decided that as only Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has the right to dissolve the assemblies, the party would never support any unconstitutional measure taken in that regard.

Speaking in a press briefing, the PPP leaders said that the party's central leadership condemns any move to delay the general polls and reiterated their commitment to democratic continuity.

The PPP said that it would resist any covert or overt attempt to weaken the parliamentary democracy. The party leaders also expressed their concern over the political mainstreaming of banned outfits and the standstill on FATA reforms bill.
