Students forced to travel on rooftops of buses
ISLAMABAD: A large number of students coming from suburbs of twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi reach their schools and colleges through private transport and most of the times they have to travel on rooftops of buses due to shortage of route specific vans and buses.

Hundreds of students travel daily between Rawalpindi and Islamabad by public transport, but due to shortage of vehicles, most of them get late from their schools and colleges.

Rafiullah, a college student in federal capital, told that they have to wait long to find seat due to which they do not reach their colleges on time. He urged the authorities to deploy sufficient transport on various routes to reduce the problems of the students.

Wasim Khan, a student said the school and college buses ply only on specific routes and he had to use local transport to reach his college. He complained that particularly women and students face problems due to shortage of transport.

The students also urged the authorities concerned to devise a comprehensive strategy for reliable and comfortable transport services for the students.
