KHIPRO: At least three girls of a family have died of suffocation having been buried under mudslide in tehsil Khipro of Mirpurkhas on early Saturday, Geo News reported.
According to eyewitnesses, the tragic incident took place when digging in the area was underway wherein the deceased trio was involved among others in digging mud out from a pit.
After the accident, the villagers waited for none and all at once started rescue activities on their own but failed to rescue all three girls alive as they dug out mud to find two dead bodies and a critically wounded girl.
The injured girl succumbed to her fatal injuries while being transported to hospital.
Later, the dead girls were identified as Sakina (12), Sabhagi (15) and Hawaran (13), hospital sources confirmed to media.
Trio were members of a family, police told media, lamenting that for want of sufficient medico legal facilities in the area, the relatives have been allowed to bury deceased girls’ bodies without autopsy. (GEO NEWS)
