ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior A. Rehman Malik on Saturday dispelled the impression of having any differences with Shah Mehmood Qureshi, saying there is no substance in such reports, Geo News reported.
Talking to media men here, Rehman said he had neither had any quarrel with Shah Mehmood Qureshi nor did he claim that Raymond Davis had a diplomatic passport.
He said all procedural formalities were fulfilled at the time of granting visa to Raymond Davis. The related documents will be presented before the court when required, he added.
The Interior Minister said protecting the life of Raymond Davis is the responsibility of the Punjab Government which would be provided help if sought. “A rangers company has been tasked with the job of Davis’s security,” he added.
“The case of Raymond Davis is subjudice and whatever inquiries the court makes will be responded accordingly,” he said.
Rehman Malik said no diplomat is permitted to carry weapons in any part of Pakistan nor could he/she carry unlicensed firearm.
He said he would be visiting Karachi in the next few days to discuss measures against extortion.
