Court will decide Davis’ immunity: govt.
ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani chaired a core committee meeting of their respective party, PPP, which concluded here till late Thursday, Geo News reported.

During the meeting, President Asif Ali Zardari said that US Senator John Kerry had been informed about the immunity issue of Raymond Davis, illustrating that the matter was being heard by a court and the court would pronounce the final judgment regarding blanket immunity of the US double murder suspect.

Besides, the meeting also reviewed the discussions, which President and Prime Minister separately held with US Senator John Kerry during formers’ meetings with latter.

Also, the government’s top brass took the other key members of core committee of PPP under confidence over correspondence with US government with regard to release of US suspect Raymond Davis and his immunity issue.

Later, Prime Minister Gilani briefed meeting attendees over his meeting with Kerry, saying that he had conveyed his message to US government that latter should have considered the ground realities concerning with Raymond Davis case instead of putting Pakistan government under immense pressure for immediate release of suspect.

“The key complainants in Raymond Davis case are Pakistani nation and the bereaved family of those killed by Davis and the government will respect court’s decision, ” PM told Senator Kerry.

The meeting also decided not to let affect Pak-US strategic ties and agreed upon protection of sovereignty of Pakistan at all costs.

In the end, Abdul Rehman Malik and Babar Awan briefed meeting over law and order situation in country.
