ISLAMABAD: The counsel of PCO judges Dr Basit has pleaded in the Supreme Court for summoning former Army Chief Pervez Musharraf over imposing PCO, Geo News reported on Friday.
Justice Saqib Nisar revealed that if the SC did not suspend the emergency, 15 judges of the Lahore High Court would have done that.
A seven-member bench heard the Intra Court Appeals of Justice Shabbar Raza Rizvi and Justice Hasnat Ahmed Khan, Judges, Lahore High Court filed against the Court order dated February 2, 2011 passed in Criminal Original Petitions (Contempt Proceedings) registered against the Judges who took oath under PCO in violation of Supreme Court order dated November 3, 2007.
The bench was headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry comprising other members Justice Javed Iqbal, Justice Mian Shakirullah Jan, Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jullani, Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and Justice Amir Hani Muslim.
The Chief Justice remarked that several judges took oath under PCO many times but the ruling against it came only one time, adding that there would be rule of law in the country now.(GEO URDU)
