MULTAN: Former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi Sunday said he had closely witnessed the functioning of government machinery which, he added, appear clean and strong from outside but actually it has become infected from inside, Geo News reported.
He said this while addressing a public meeting at the residence of former provincial minister Moinuddin Qureshi.
“I have been in mainstream politics for the past 28 years and, during this extensive journey, I have experienced many ups and downs but I did my utmost to do honest and clean politics,” Shah Mehmood Qureshi claimed.
He said the time for reformation was still not over and, ‘God willing, we choose a path that best serves the interests of the country.’
The former foreign minister said he was never wary of criticism, calling it a beauty of democracy. “I have always tried to keep my political image unblemished,” he said, arguing the Supreme Court is presently hearing a case against the people who got their loans written off ‘but non of the lists contains my name’.
He said today Pakistan’s nation, which now shares unanimity of views, has turned a new page. “What we need today is to bring a change in our way of thinking, leading to the progress of Pakistan,” he stressed.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said, ‘All that we have done during the past 60 years is experiment and lost half of the country as a result.’
