Minister inaugurates first ICU at CHK
KARACHI: Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) had its first ever Medical Intensive Care Unit (ICU) built against a total cost of Rs 50 million to meet the critical needs of patients with medical complications.

Sindh Minister for Health, Dr. Saghir Ahmed inaugurated the 16-bed facility, including 12 ventilated and four beds for high dependency unit established with the support of Dow Graduates 1982 batch.

The graduates have contributed Rs 10 million for the facility, raised by Dowiites of 1982 batch serving within the country as well as those based in UK and USA.

Sindh government had provided Rs 40 million for procurement of gadgets for the much wanted facility in one of the largest tertiary care hospitals in the country.

Dr. Saghir Ahmed on the occasion said equal attention is being paid towards provision of qualified personnel for the ICU. He said as a matter of policy the Health Department would ensure establishment of medical ICUs at every public sector teaching hospital in the province.(APP)
