LAHORE: A team of Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) caught 169 people for stealing electricity in Barki sub-division and fined them Rs 1.7 million and charged 17,000 units as detection bill.
According to sources, a LESCO team headed by deputy manager S&I Engr. Ijaz Ahmed raided Barki and found 169 people stealing electricity from the supply line.
The team lodged FIRs against 64 people for stealing electricity through direct supply in police stations concerned and 105 pilferers for using other modes.
Additional Manager Public Relations LESCO Javaid Ahmed Khan requested electricity consumers that if they found any pilferage of electricity, report it on toll free number 0800-84338 (Theft), their names and addresses will be kept confidential.
