Qureshi calls for enforcement of agri tax

LAHORE: Former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi called for the imposition of agriculture tax, adding that the mechanism of tax collection could be discussed.

Talking to the media after a foundation day ceremony of Farmer Association of Pakistan (FAP) here on Saturday, Qureshi said that that small farmers should be exempted but landowners or big farmers should participate towards country's revenue generation.

Qureshi said that Pakistan and India should seriously resolve the most sensitive issue of water through dialogue.

He said that water was the basic necessity for agriculture, adding that shortage of water could cause problems not only to the two neighbours but also among provinces.
