CHENNAI: England captain Andrew Strauss won the toss and elected to bat first against South Africa in their Group B match here at the M A Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday.
England has made one change in their team as Ravi Bopara has come in place of Paul Collingwood while there is no change in South Africa side.
England made one change from the team that went down to a sensational three-wicket defeat by Ireland in Bangalore with all-rounder Ravi Bopara replacing Paul Collingwood.
Middle-order batsman Collingwood had been suffering with knee problems but was available for selection, meaning England had dropped the out-of-form veteran.
South Africa who have won both their two matches were unchanged.
Morne van Wyk was listed to keep wicket for the Proteas, with in-form batsman and gloveman AB de Villiers, also a superb outfielder, having had a minor back injury against the Dutch.
England: Andrew Strauss (captain), Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott, Ian Bell, Ravi Bopara, Matt Prior, Tim Bresnan, Michael Yardy, Graeme Swann, Stuart Broad, James Anderson
South Africa: Graeme Smith (captain), Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Faf du Plessis, Morne van Wyk (wkt), Robin Peterson, Morne Morkel, Dale Steyn, Imran Tahir.
