22 bandits arrested in two months

FAISALABAD: Faisalabad police busted five dacoits gangs by arresting 22 bandits and recovered stolen articles worth Rs 1.178876 million from their possession during January and February 2011.

Giving details here on Monday, City Police Officer (CPO) Dr. Usman Anwar told the media that police registered 540 cases of illicit weapon holding and recovered five Kalashnikovs, 43 rifles, 82 guns, 23 revolvers, 392 pistols, 22 carbines and 2239 cartridges during this period.

He told that 560 cases of narcotics were registered during January and February while police also recovered 22.939 kilograms of heroin, 203.735 kilograms of charas, 3.355 kilograms of opium, 973 bottles of liquor from the possession of drug traffickers besides unearthing eight distilleries and arresting 93 drunkards.(APP)
