KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers, irked over their own leaders, on Saturday broke into and vandalised a party office in Karachi.

According to information received by Geo News, Insaf House — located on Shahra-e-Faisal — was attacked by party workers following PTI chairman Imran Khan naming Firdous Shamim Naqvi as the candidate to contest from PS-102 in Karachi.

PTI workers vandalised the property breaking doors and windows and also graffitied phrases including 'Karachi president usurping seats of candidates unacceptable PS-102' and 'Go Arif Alvi Go' on the walls of the property. Enraged workers also surrounded PTI leaders Firdous Naqvi and Arif Alvi.

Local police contacted Insaf House soon after the incident took place, asking for details of the scuffle, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Gulshan-e-Iqbal told Geo News.

"Insaf House administration has not allowed the police to visit the premises," the officer said.

According to the police officer, the Insaf House administration has said that it was a party matter and was being resolved internally.

It has been learnt that Imran Khan would be contesting general elections NA-243 constituency of the National Assembly in Karachi, which is why several other party leaders want to contest elections in provincial assembly constituencies PS-101 and PS-102 together with the party chief.

Sources informed Geo News that PTI leaders willing to contest elections for the two provincial assembly seats include Firdous Naqvi, Jamal Siddiqui, Arsalan Ghumman, Ashraf Qureshi and others.

Taking notice of the incident, the local PTI leadership vowed to take disciplinary action against workers involved in attack the party office.

The PTI leaders, however, said that the party was growing and such incidents taking place was not a big thing.
