TAXILA: Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said on Tuesday that he chose the symbol of jeep for his election campaign personally.

The disgruntled Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader was addressing a gathering in Taxila, where he said that he is not associated with any ‘jeep group’.

Nisar said when he chose the jeep symbol wrong speculation was made, but he personally chose the symbol out of the three options.

Nisar further said that no step should be taken that makes the election controversial.

"No one is getting a certificate for corruption or honesty from me," he said in an indirect reference to his political rivals.

The former interior minister also urged upon the need of a government that focuses on issues of people.

Nisar said even if he was still in the PML-N, he would not have gone to the airport to welcome former premier Nawaz Sharif.

"I would not have gone to welcome Nawaz," the former interior minister said.

Nisar will be contesting as an independent candidate from the NA-63, NA-59, PP-10 and PP-12 constituencies in the upcoming general election, following a fall out with the PML-N.
