KARACHI: A motorcyclist was injured after being hit by a US consulate vehicle in Karachi, police said Monday.
The incident occurred near PIDC flyover after which passers-by surrounded the vehicle. The motorcyclist, who received wounds to his foot, was shifted to hospital.
Sources said that a foreign woman was present inside the vehicle at the time of the incident.
Police later confirmed that the woman was a staff member at the US consulate. She left the vehicle behind and moved away after the incident, the police added.
Earlier in April, a military attache had rammed his vehicle into a motorcycle in Islamabad, killing one man on the spot and injuring the other.
Colonel Joseph Emanuel Hall had run a red light before hitting the motorcycle. He was let go by the police after registration of a case.
On April 20, the government decided to not place the name of Colonel Joseph on the Exit Control List (ECL).
The father of the deceased youth had moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to order placement of Colonel Joseph's name on the ECL. He had taken the stance that Colonel Joseph, while intoxicated, hit his son and he died on the spot.
Colonel Joseph, however, left for United States a little over a month after the fatal accident.
