BAHAWALPUR: Legendary ghazal singer Gulbahar Bano who was recovered from her brother’s house on Tuesday night and shifted to a hospital has now been discharged.
Earlier, after receiving reports of the singer being held against her will at her brother’s house in Khanqah Sharif area of Bahawalpur, police raided the residence and took Bano into custody.
The authorities were shown her medical report at this point which stated that the famed singer suffers from mental health issues and has been advised by doctors to not live alone.
According to the singer’s brother, Bano was diagnosed with schizophrenia in 2009 and hence was staying in his house.
Authorities, however, said the singer be shifted to a hospital for proper treatment. After confirming the news about the singer’s mental health condition from doctors, police returned Bano to her brother’s house.
Born in 1955 in Bahawalpur, Bano rose to fame in the 70’s and the 80’s. She is known for her ghazals Chahat Mein Kia Dunya Dari, Hamain Jahan Mey, Kya Kya Yeh Rang, Kabhi Kabhi To among others.
