MUSCUT: Second-placed Pakistan overcame third-placed Malaysia 3-1 in a shootout after a 4-4 draw in the regulation period in the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex on Saturday.
Pakistan will now face arch-rivals India who defeated Japan on October 28.
The green shirts have won three of its five matches, losing one and drawing one. They defeated South Korea 3-1 in the opening match of the tournament while they lost to arch-rivals India 3-1.
This was followed by an 8-1 thrashing of hosts Oman, a 1-1 draw against Japan and a 1-0 win against Malaysia to book a place in the semi-final.
Pakistan were without the services of captain Mohammad Rizwan who limped off the pitch on Thursday with a hamstring injury.
The biennial event is being held in Muscat from October 18 to 28 at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman and features Pakistan, India, Malaysia, Japan, South Korea and hosts Oman.
