Being 'attacked' because of 18th Amendment, says Zardari

LAHORE: Former president Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday said that he was being "attacked from everywhere" because of the issue of 18th Amendment of the Constitution.

Speaking at a news conference, the former president said the opponents had differences with him, but they were instead picking up his friends.

"Hands were laid on a group that helped industrialise Sindh," he lamented, adding that those individuals were going through hell.

Zardari said those playing the acts from the dictatorship days were really bad actors.

Commenting on his possible arrest, he said it was nothing new for him as he had been arrested in past.

The former president said neither Nawaz Sharif needed him, nor he needed the former premier, adding, "We both have our own parties."

He said they have agreed to attend the all parties conference (APC) hosted by Maulana Fazlur Rahman.

Zardari said they were not interested in toppling the government, rather they want the rulers to grow tired of it.
