ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday ordered Prime Minister Imran Khan to regularise his Bani Gala residence today.
A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Mian Saqib Nisar heard a case regarding encroachments and environmental degradation in Bani Gala.
Expressing anger over properties in Bani Gala not being regularised, the bench told PM Imran’s counsel Babar Awan, “Tell the prime minister to get his residence regularised.”
“A leader has to set an example,” the bench upheld.
The chief justice then remarked, “We gave 10 days time, why has no progress been made?”
At this, Additional Attorney General Nayyar Rizvi said, “The interior secretary has summoned a meeting of the regularisation committee formed on the top court’s orders. Kindly give us 10 more days.”
However, Justice Nisar said, “We will not even give one more day.”
The additional attorney general then informed the court that the committee is meeting today. “Give us till 3pm,” he urged.
The bench then directed that it be informed regarding the outcome of the meeting before 10pm today. The hearing of the case was then adjourned till October 30.
