ISLAMABAD: Mobile phone services have been restored in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala.

Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry had announced via Twitter that services would be suspended on Friday from 8AM till Maghrib in the four cities.

Services were suspended as protests are taking place in several cities of the country following the acquittal of Asia Bibi, a Christian woman on death row for blasphemy charges.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday acquitted Bibi of blasphemy charges, ending her eight-year ordeal on death row but sparking demonstrations by religious parties countrywide.
