SHC orders to transfer Naqeebullah case on father’s plea

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Monday ordered to transfer the Naqeebullah Mehsud murder trial from an anti-terrorism court to another court after his father said he was dissatisfied by the case’s proceedings.

Naqeeb, a 27-year-old native of Waziristan, was killed on accusations of being a terrorist by police in what was later termed a fake encounter.

His father has on a number of times voiced concern on the proceedings of the case. 

The court was hearing a petition by Naqeeb’s father against the bail approval of former SSP Rao Anwar and police official Qamar Ahmed, two of the accused in the case.

The ATC judge, hearing the case, rejected a report presented by Dr Rizwan during today's proceedings

The counsel of Naqeeb’s father told the court that the ATC had approved the bail pleas of the former cops without hearing their arguments and reviewing evidence.

The SHC had previously issued notices to the two former police officials and the prosecutor general Sindh.

The court adjourned the hearing until November 26.

Rao Anwar, the main accused in the murder case, war earlier granted bail by the ATC on July 10.
