At least 47 people have died in a crash involving two buses near the Rusape tollgate in Zimbabwe, state broadcaster ZBC reported on Wednesday.
One of the two buses was travelling to Zimbabwean capital, Harare, from Mutare, whereas the other was coming from the opposite direction when they met with the accident in Rusape.
"We confirm 47 people have died in a road traffic accident at the 166km peg along the Harare-Mutare highway," Al-Jazeera quoted police spokesperson Paul Nyathi as saying, adding that several others had been injured.
Zimbabwe's Transport Minister, Biggie Matiza, said he was "saddened by the development", the publication added.
Police have so far identified 47 bodies at the accident scene, ZBC reported, citing the spokesperson.
