FAISALABAD: Lawyers in Faisalabad continued their strike for a second straight day demanding that a bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) be established in the city.

According to the secretary of the bar, the protesting lawyers will not appear in court today.

A day earlier, agitated lawyers stormed the court premises and started damaging property including the district officer's room.

They had boycotted the day's proceedings and closed the gates of the court and stopped petitioners from entering the court's premises.

Several enraged lawyers had also broken into the deputy commissioner’s office, creating a disturbance.

The lawyers are protesting for the establishment of an LHC bench in Faisalabad to ensure speedy and cheaper justice to the residents of the city.
