RAIWIND: Tableeghi Jamaat Ameer Haji Abdul Wahab, who passed away early Sunday, has been laid to rest in a graveyard adjacent to Tableeghi Markaz, Raiwind.

Haji Abdul Wahab had been suffering from dengue fever and had been under treatment at a private hospital in Lahore. His funeral prayers were offered after Maghrib prayers at Tableeghi Markaz, Raiwind.

Speaker Punjab Assembly Chaudhry Pervez Ilahi and other notables were among thousands who attended the prayers.

The religious leader was then laid to rest in Dola-Mola graveyard adjacent to the Tableeghi Markaz.

President Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Imran Khan, Punjab CM Usman Buzdar, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and several other politicians and social figures expressed sorrow over the demise of Haji Abdul Wahab.

The late religious leader, who preached Islam for several years of his life, was the third ameer of the international Tableeghi Jamaat.

Born in New Delhi in 1923, Haji Abdul Wahab migrated to Burewala in Vehari district after the partition. He studied at Government Islamia College in Lahore and also served as a tehsildar.

Haji Abdul Wahab was associated with the Tableeghi Jamaat from the time of its founder Muhammad Ilyas Kandhlawi.
