ISLAMABAD: Situation at the Quaid-e-Azam University has normalised after two student groups, who engaged in violent clashes Tuesday night, resolved the conflict after talks.

The Quaidian Student Federation was a mediator between the groups.

A reportedly petty matter led to violent clashes between the two groups, in which the students, wielding sticks, beat each other up. Several students were injured as a result.

The students also destroyed university property and vehicles.

The clash came to an end after intervention by university administration, police and Rangers personnel.

A meeting of QAU administration today decided that police and Rangers personnel will continue to be deployed in university premises.

Legal action will be taken against students involved in the clash, the meeting decided.

Student groups in the university have clashed several times in the past years, resulting in injuries and disruption of classes..

Over 25 people were injured in the wake of a clash at the university in March last year, police had told Geo News.
