PAKPATTAN: Police on Monday had suspended a police officer after a dance video had gone viral but turns out that the man in question was a stage actor and not an official.

Pakpattan police officer, Inspector Arshad, had been suspended after a dance video of a man who looked similar to him went viral. However, as reports of Inspector Arshad's suspension did the rounds, stage actor Shahzad Asi came forward and identified himself as the man dancing in the video.

Speaking to Geo News, Asi, said, “We were shooting for a drama rehearsal and its clip went viral.”

"I have no connection to police, it is a respectable institution,” he said and apologised if the video hurt anyone's sentiments.

Officials had taken notice and launch an inquiry into two alleged videos of Inspector Arshad, who is stationed at Kalyana police station in Pakpattan.

In the first video, the police officer could be seen depicting a Bollywood villain while delivering a dialogue from Anil Kapoor's 2013 film Shootout at Wadala. "Do waqt ki roti kamata hoon, panch waqt ki namaaz padhta hoon ... isse zyada meri zaroorat nahi, aur mujhe khareedne ki teri aukaad nahi,” he said in the video.

In a second video, it was speculated that the same inspector was seen dancing with a woman to an Indian song but turned out to be stage actor Asi.
