KARACHI: A local court in Karachi Saturday handed over a suspect, arrested over child pornography, to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on a seven-day physical remand.
Officials of the FIA's cybercrime circle had lodged first case of child pornography and arrested the suspect, Hamza, from Karachi's SITE Metroville area.
The FIA produced the suspect before the court of Judicial Magistrate West on Saturday. Officials informed the court that the case against Hamza was registered on the complaint of a citizen Khalid Bhimla.
The officials said they recovered images and videos relating to child pornography from the suspect at the time of his arrest and in the investigations so far, 10 affected children aged 10 to 13 years have come forth.
The suspect, who had accounts on Facebook and Instagram and ran virtual WhatsApp groups, would trick children into doing immoral acts, the FIA officials said.
They requested the court to grant 14-day remand of the suspect for further interrogation.
The court, however, granted the agency seven-day physical remand of the suspect.
