LAHORE: Work came to a standstill in sub-courts on Wednesday as lawyers continued to protest across Punjab for the establishment of a high court bench.

In Faisalabad, where protests have been going on for the last seven days, lawyers continued to stage sit-ins to demand a bench of the Lahore High Court be established in the city.

Boycotting the proceedings, the lawyers closed the door of the consumer court and stopped petitioners from entering the court premises.

The protest has led to the registry branch, land record centre and district offices being closed. Protesters also staged a sit-in outside the session court leading to the University Road being closed for traffic.

Further, protests in Gujranwala’s Kachehri district, Chichawatni and Hafizabad’s district court have led to delay in hearings of cases.
