Improved security situation has paved way for foreign investments: COAS

KARACHI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the Thar Coal Project where he was given a detailed briefing on the progress of the pilot projects, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release on Wednesday.

The COAS said the internal security situation of Pakistan had largely improved paving way for foreign investment. “We will continue to play our part in ensuring secure environment for business and entrepreneurship in Pakistan by both local and foreign investors,” the COAS was quoted as saying.

Lieutenant General Tariq Khan (Retired), Managing Director Fauji Fertilizer Company received COAS upon his arrival.

Prior to visiting Thar, General Bajwa visited forward troops in Gadra Sector Sindh. The Army chief commended the operational preparedness and high state of morale of the troops. COAS said Pakistan Army is fully committed to guarding the frontiers of the country. Lieutenant General Humayun Aziz, Commander Karachi Corps accompanied the COAS during the visit.

Earlier, COAS visited the Army Air Defence Centre in Karachi. 

During his visit, COAS appointed Lieutenant General Hamood Uz Zaman Khan as Colonel Commandant of the Army Air Defence Corps at a ceremony, a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations said.

The ceremony was attended by a large number of serving and retired officers and soldiers from Army Air Defence.

The army chief, during his visit, also appreciated the Army Air Defence Corps contribution in the war against terrorism, the ISPR stated.

Earlier this week, Lieutenant General Majid Ehsan, who was serving as the president of National Defence University (NDU) was appointed as Corps Commander Lahore, according to ISPR. Lieutenant General Aamer Riaz, who was serving as Lahore Corps Commander, was appointed president of NDU.
