Govt, opposition agree on solving public issues, effective legislation

ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser and Opposition leader in the House Shehbaz Sharif agreed on Friday to make legislation process effective and resolve public issues, said an official press statement.

Speaker NA Asad Qaiser and Shehbaz Sharif met today after the latter was elected chairman of the Public Accounts Committee.

During the meeting, the opposition leader thanked the speaker for issuing production orders for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Saad Rafique.

Shehbaz Sharif said that Qaiser was running the House without discrimination, which has raised the integrity of the parliament.

The opposition leader ensured the speaker of complete cooperation in legislation.

Qaiser said that the legislation required that lawmakers should raise above the party affiliations and assist in the functioning of the House and for the progress of parliamentary democracy, it is imperative that the opposition and government work together.
