Young man in Peshawar shoots dead five family members, kills self afterwards

PESHAWAR: A young man on Wednesday shot and killed five of his family members here in the city's Tahkal area before committing suicide, authorities said.

According to police, the deceased had opened fire over a domestic dispute and had used a 9mm pistol. He was identified as Abdullah.

Among the other victims were Abdullah's father Jan Muhammad, his brothers Jawad, Luqman, and Saifullah, as well as his paternal uncle Faqeer Muhammad.

Police added that Abdullah was suffering from mental illness. On the other hand, his paternal uncle, Noorzada, commented that he used to remain aloof and isolated in the house and had fired over a bitter verbal argument.

Abdullah's sister and mother remained safe and are the only ones in the family to remain alive.
