CENTURION: The Pakistan Cricket Board on Friday refuted media reports related to coach Mickey Arthur’s 'angry behaviour' following the team's batting collapse on day two of the ongoing Test against South Africa at Centurion.
In a statement, the team management clarified that the allegations that Arthur lost his cool with the senior players after Pakistan's batting failure in the closing hours of the day's play were “grossly exaggerated”.
Pakistan slipped from 100 for one at tea to 190 all out on Thursday, at one point losing five wickets for 25 in 11 overs.
Captain Sarfraz Ahmed failed to score any runs; Azhar Ali was out for a duck too, while Asad Shafiq managed to score just six runs, leaving the tail exposed to the destructive South African pacers who bowled out Pakistan for 190.
Sources had said Arthur lashed out at the three batsmen, hurling abuses at them and throwing things around in the dressing room in frustration.
“As per the norm, Mickey held a debriefing meeting at the end of the day's play which was held in a cordial atmosphere with inputs from team members and management as is the usual practice," the team management said in its statement.
“The head coach, team management, captain and all team members are totally united with a singular aim of producing positive results.
“The team manager and rest of the management hopes that media would refrain from speculating on the matter,” the statement read.
