HYDERABAD: Parents of 17-year-old Mannan Ali Mirani have pleaded the government for financial help to cover the medical expenses of their 17-year-old son who suffers from a heart ailment.

Mannan, son of Madad Ali, was diagnosed with a complicated and potentially fatal heart condition by his doctors in Hyderabad, Pakistan. The doctors told Madad that his son needed an immediate heart surgery, but that it could only be carried out in India.

Madad, who is a superintendent in the education department, managed to somehow raise money for the surgery, which was carried out in 2016 in Jaypee Hospital, located near Indian capital New Delhi. Mannan was told he would need to undergo another surgery in 2017.

However, failure to raise the money in time led to the surgery being delayed for a year. Though Mannan underwent a successful surgery in November this year, the delay resulted in other complications and he ended up with bleeding in his lungs.

The teenager’s family, who have sold most of their valuables, are again in dire need of money and have pleaded the government to help them.

The Jaypee Hospital has asked for another Rs1.5-2 million for installing a device to help Mannan with breathing.
