ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed concern over the current political situation of Sindh and said that he would soon visit the province.

The prime minister held a telephonic conversation with Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) leader Ali Gohar Mehr on Saturday, during which he expressed concern over present situation in Sindh. Khan said he would soon visit the province and hold meetings with key political figures.

Confirming the telephonic contact, a spokesman for PTI Sindh chapter said the premier accepted Mehr's invitation to visit Sindh and he would soon hold key meetings in the province.

On the other hand, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry called Governor Sindh Imran Ismail and discussed possible actions in the wake of the report of a joint investigation team (JIT) probing laundering of multi-billion rupees from fictitious bank accounts, and the political situation of the Sindh.

Chaudhry will be visiting the province on Sunday, where he would hold meetings with members of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and GDA.

Speaking to media, special assistant to prime minister Iftikhar Durrani said a change of leadership in Sindh was inevitable, stressing the need for a chief minister who was not under investigation.

Responding to a question about Governor's Rule in Sindh, he said Pakistan Peoples Party should itself think as how they were to run the government.

Durrani said the JIT report included evidence with regard to Sindh chief minister facilitating Omni Group. He alleged Murad Ali Shah of facilitating Zardari Group in his capacity as the chief minister.

The PM's aide said that everyone will have to accept Supreme Court's verdict with regard to the JIT probing the mega money laundering case.
