ISLAMABAD: Pakistan handed over on Tuesday a list of Indian prisoners incarcerated in the country to the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

According to the Consular Agreement signed between the two countries on May 2008, India and Pakistan are required to exchange lists of prisoners in each other's custody twice a year, on January 1 and July 1.

Consistent with the provisions of this agreement, the foreign office handed over a list of 537 prisoners in Pakistani jails. These include 54 civilians and 483 fishermen, the foreign office said.

The Indian government will also share the list of Pakistani prisoners with the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.

Further, Islamabad and New Delhi exchanged a list of nuclear installations and facilities.

In accordance with Article-II of the Agreement on Prohibition of Attacks against nuclear installations and facilities between Pakistan and India, signed on December 31, 1988, the list was officially handed over to a representative of the Indian High Commission at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today.

The Indian Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi handed over the list of Indian nuclear installations and facilities to a representative of the Pakistan High Commission.

The agreement contains the provision that both countries inform each other of their nuclear installations and facilities on January 1 every year. This has been done since January 1, 1992.
