Family, in-laws of Sheikhupura woman argue over cause of death

SHEIKHUPURA: The death of a married woman Wednesday night here in the city's Mohalla Afzal Kot became a mystery when her family argued that she was poisoned and her in-laws labelled it a suicide.

The deceased was identified as Ishrat Bibi.

According to Muhammad Javed, her brother who has submitted a request to police to register a first information report (FIR), Ishrat Bibi's husband, Muhammad Bashir, along with the help of his relatives, poisoned her.

She was taken to the hospital where she passed away, he added in his request to police.

On the other hand, Ishrat Bibi's in-laws claim that she committed suicide by ingesting poisonous tablets.

Officers at the Saddar Muridke police station confirmed that they have received Muhammad Javed's request to file an FIR but said the truth could only be ascertained after a post-mortem and the related investigation.
