FAISALABAD: Industrial gas supply to this city known as the Manchester of Pakistan has been stopped for three days effective May 4 under a gas load management plan, which has rendered thousands of workers jobless besides loss of production running into billions and meeting export orders deadline doubtful.
According to the gas management schedule issued here, the supply of gas to the industries in the city would stop from 6.00 A.M on May 4 morning until 6.00 A.M on May 7 morning.
Thousands of workers employed on daily wages in these industries have been rendered jobless and being deprived of the wages for three continuous days would further add to their miseries in these hard days of hyperinflation.
All Pakistan Textile Processing Mills Association’ Regional Chairman, Sheikh Saeed said that the industrialists have rejected the ban on gas supply for three days.
