LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat said on Sunday that the Sahiwal operation was an intelligence-based operation conducted by the law enforcement authorities on a very reliable tip-off.
Speaking in a press conference after a cabinet meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, the law minister said that there are strong shreds of pieces of evidence indicating that deceased Zeeshan hosted terrorists at his house.
"Zeeshan was affiliated with Daesh. We got the confirmation on Jan 18 that he works with the terror organistaion," he said, "Had we not stopped the terrorists, there could have been big devastation."
The minister said that the government has formed a committee which will ascertain the relationship between late Zeeshan and Khalil.
Basharat said that the LEAs traced a suspicious car on Jan 19 near Manga Mandi, the commuters opened fire at the forces when told to stop the car.
"We are not here to present charge sheet against anyone but there was a suicide jacket in the car which wasn’t worn by anyone," he said. "There won't be any compromise on the investigations."
The minister announced Rs20 million package to the family and said that an FIR has been registered as per the request of the family.
