ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz on Sunday submitted an adjournment motion in the national assembly secretariat on the alleged extrajudicial killing in Sahiwal.
Four people – including three members of a family – were killed in an alleged encounter in Sahiwal on Saturday.
CTD personnel said they had killed a local commander of militant organisation Daesh and three others in the operation. Eyewitnesses, however, disputed the claim and said the people in the car did not fire at officials, nor were any explosives recovered from the vehicle.
The adjournment motion signed by former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Khawaja Asif, Rana Sanaullah, Maryam Aurangzeb and Ayaz Sadiq, said that the killing of citizens by police in front of their children is the most important issue for the country today, hence there should be a debate on it in the assembly.
"The government should give its response in the house," the motion said. "The government should tell why it failed in protecting the lives of the people."
