LAHORE: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Shehbaz Sharif, who is currently under arrest in connection to the Ashiana Iqbal Housing Scheme case, on Tuesday filed a plea in the Lahore High Court (LHC) seeking bail.
Shehbaz’s counsels, Azam Nazeer Tarrar and Amjad Pervaiz, filed the bail petition on behalf of the leader of the opposition in the National Assembly.
In the petition, Shehbaz said, “The National Accountability Bureau made a case contrary to the law and arrested me. The case was made on political basis.”
“Whatever I did was in accordance with the law and Constitution. Not even an inch of official land was given to anyone and LHC should accept my bail plea,” the peition added.
Shehbaz also mentioned medical reasons in his petition. The federal government and NAB have been made respondents.
NAB arrested Shehbaz on October 5, 2018 in connection to the Ashiana Iqbal Housing Scheme case.
