FIA recovers Rs125m from van in Gujranwala in Hundi, Hawala case

GUJRANWALA: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) late Thursday recovered Rs125 million worth of cash from a van during a security check here at the Kamoke toll plaza, a top official said.

According to Ahmed Nasir, the additional director at the agency, four suspects accused of running a Hundi-Hawala business were also arrested.

The stash of cash was recovered from hidden compartments inside the van, Nasir said, adding that the vehicle was stopped at a check-post at the Kamoke toll plaza.

A first information report (FIR) was also filed in this regard.

The arrested suspects — who, according to The News, were identified as Waqas Butt, M Afzal, Anas Umair, and Mudassar Shahzad — were transporting the cash from Lahore to Gujrat.
