Six die dozens injured in road accident
HYDERABAD: Six labourers were killed while more than 40 seriously injured when their speeding desert truck locally known as “Kekra” fell into a deep ditch at Mithriyo Stop near Kantiyo- Umerkot- Chachro Road late Saturday night.

The injured also included women and children. Police said the accident occurred as the desert truck carrying more than 60 labourers of Bheel community to their native villages in Thar’s taluka Chachro from Umerkot fell into a ditch.

The labourers were returning from their work at the time. On receipt of information Umerkot and Tharparkar police and the area’s villagers reached the spot and started rescue work.

Bodies of the deceased and dozens of injured persons were rushed to Civil Hospital Umerkot. However, doctors at the hospital pronounced Naryan, Sahiba, Taarqi, Haleema, Dhari and a minor baby dead upon arrival. Some injured were referred to Liaquat Medical University Hospital Hyderabad (LMUHH). (APP)
