Nawaz refuses to be shifted to hospital, requests govt to send him back to jail

LAHORE: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has refused to be shifted to the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) on the grounds of having a heart ailment and requested to be transferred back to Koth Lakhpat Jail, sources informed Geo News on Wednesday.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader has maintained that he was taken to the PIC before being shifted to the Services Hospital, hence it doesn’t feel appropriate for him to be wandered around.

Medical board's supervisor Professor Mahmood Ayaz in an informal discussion with the journalists said that the board has recommended the government to shift Nawaz to a hospital with a cardiac ward on an immediate basis.

"We have completed all tests, medical check-up of Nawaz. We have referred back the case to the interior ministry. We are now waiting for there response," he said.

Dr Adnan, the personal doctor of Nawaz, has claimed that he has not been given the former premier's medical reports yet.

"I have severe concerns about Nawaz's medical condition. His treatment should have been given to a cardiac expert - a facility which has not been provided yet," he said.

Meanwhile, Spokesperson for Punjab government Shahbaz Gill has maintained that the government has not yet received Nawaz's medical reports.

"We have not yet taken any decision on Nawaz's transfer to jail. We will take a decision as per the recommendations of the medical board."
